Does a property owner have a duty to provide security guards?

Video Transcription:

Does a property owner need to have a security guard? It depends. That kind of a question usually gets answered by the jury ultimately. It comes down to a few different factors. The level of crime in the area, the nature of the business and can a security guard deter the kind of crime that is being talked about in this case. There’s no standard on this. Some particular businesses do have an industry standard that we can look at, but generally speaking it’s the jury that gets to decide if this particular business had enough going on and there was enough crime going on that they knew or should’ve known, that a guard was necessary to protect their customers.
