Defective Power Strips

PowerStrip

Power strips are popular at both work and home. A power strip instantly multiplies the number of outlets available, allowing users to plug in up to a dozen devices. However, consumers should be aware of a recent recall involving the HEZI brand power strips. Because of a defect, the strip poses a serious risk of electrocution, and consumers could die from electrical shock. This recall is only the most recent involving dangerous power strips which have entered the U.S. market. Anyone injured by a defective power strip should contact Pita Weber Del Prado today so we can discuss your legal rights. You might sue a manufacturer for selling a dangerous product.

Recent Recall

On January 15, 2026 a Chinese manufacturer announced a recall of HEZI brand power strips, sold mostly through Amazon.com and other online retailers. These strips have metal enclosures which create a risk of electrocution if they become energized. Consumers could suffer major injuries, possibly even death from electrical shock. The good news is that no one has yet been injured before the recall, but they could be.

If you have a HEZI branded power strip, immediately stop using it and reach out to the manufacturer for a complete refund. The risk of injury is too serious. Thankfully, the defect was caught in time before any reports of serious injury.

Watch Out for Other Defective Products

This is not the first recall of power strips sold in the United States. In December 2025, Hefei Juyuan Sporting Development recalled more than 11,000 ANNQUAN power strips due to a risk of fire and electrocution. The company had received seven reports from consumers of the strips blowing a fuse.

And in 2012, Legrand Wiremold recalled more than 14,000 power strips because of an electric shock hazard. Thankfully, no one had been hurt before the manufacturer issues the recall.

Electrocution injuries are serious. Innocent consumers can suffer internal burns, brain injuries, and heartbeat irregularities. A blown fuse could also start a fire in your home, resulting in massive property damage.

Thousands of defective products end up on the market, and your strip could be defective even if the manufacturer has yet to issue a recall. Anyone injured by an electronic device plugged into a power strip should respond carefully. The strip could be to blame for the electrical surge or blown fuse.

Hang onto the product so that we can inspect it, even if it is burned in a fire. Injured consumers can often bring a legal claim against a manufacturer, but we need to pinpoint the flaw in the strip.
